Kerri-anne Telford

Director

Kerri-anne is an enthusiastic and experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist. From a young age Kerri-anne had one goal in life “to make a difference to the lives of others”. This led Kerri-anne to pursue a career as an Occupational Therapist. Kerri-anne completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at La Trobe University in 2007 and since then has continued to grow and develop her skills in a range of areas and believes in life long learning. Since completing her degree Kerri-anne has dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of children and families and this brings her great joy.


Kerri-anne has strong skills in delivering therapy through a range of interventions and draws on numerous therapeutic interventions when working with children and their families to deliver the best possible outcomes. Kerri-anne is experienced in sensory processing, praxis, play skills, behavioural interventions and social emotional development, including being instructed in the use of the Social Thinking® concepts by Michelle Garcia Winner. Kerri-anne values the importance of regulation techniques including mindfulness and principles from the Alert program. Kerri-anne is highly experienced in delivering therapy using the DIR®/Floortime™ Model of intervention. In 2011 Kerri-anne completed the DIR® B Certification in the US, and in 2012 completed the DIR® C training. Kerri-anne is now internationally recognised as an Intermediate DIR®/Floortime™ provider. Kerri-anne continue to engage in the profession and many professional development activities that arise.


Kerri-anne loves to work with children and adolescents from 0-18. Kerri-anne has vast experience working with children and adolescents with a range of challenges from social emotional difficulties, sensory processing and praxis challenges, regulation and behavioural issues, picky feeders and problem feeders, to children with more complex developmental challenges. Kerri-anne works collaboratively with families and other key stakeholders to develop individual plans to empower children and foster their development. Kerri-anne also relishes the opportunity to support teachers and early years educators and others working with children to help all children reach their full potential.


Kerri-anne is registered to provide services through Helping Children with Autism, Better Start, NDIS and Medicare; including Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan, Chronic Disease Management plan, and the Helping Children with Autism and Better Start Initiative twenty sessions. Kerri-anne is also registered to provide services with the relevant Private Health Insurance extras.


In recent times Kerri-anne has focused on developing a strong therapeutic team to help many more children and families than she could on her own and has focused her time supporting and mentoring her team. Kerri-anne has also become a mother herself and now has her own child development project, little Matilda.
